Chemical Peel

A chemical peel is a technique to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck or hands.

Firstly a chemical solution apply to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin. The new skin is also temporarily more sensitive to the sun.

There are three basic types of chemical peel:

Superficial or lunchtime peel:

Alpha-hydroxy acid or another mild acid use to penetrate only the outer layer of skin to gently exfoliate it. The treatment improve the appearance of mild skin discoloration and rough skin as well as to refresh the face, neck, chest or hands.

Medium peel:

Glycolic or trichloroacetic acid is applied to penetrate the out and middle layers of skin to remove damaged skin cells. Moreover the treatment is used to improve age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles and moderate skin discoloration. It also can be used to smooth rough skin and treat some precancerous skin growths, i.e. actinic keratosis.

  • Deep peel: Trichloroacetic acid or phenol is applied to deeply penetrate the middle layer of skin to remove damaged skin cells. The treatment removes moderate lines, age spots, freckles and shallow scars. Patients will see a dramatic improvement in skin appearance. The procedure is used on the face and only can be performed once.

WHAT OUR CLIENT SAY
Kyla Tucci

So happy I decided to start laser hair removal here! Malahat was so sweet and made me feel comfortable despite how awkward lasering certain parts of your body may be. It’s evident that she’s experienced and knows exactly what she’s doing.
The clinic is also very clean and is taking the proper precautions which made me feel very comfortable.
I’ve only done one session so far and have already noticed a decrease in hair growth. Can’t wait for my next session!

Deep peels generally reach the deeper layers of the dermis. And the depth of damage depends on the nature and concentration of the chemicals in the peeling solution and the

length of time they permitte to interact with the skin. In addition, popular chemicals in peeling solutions include retinoids (tretinoin dissolved in propylene glycol), alpha-hydroxy

acids (lactic acid and glycolic acid), beta-hydroxy acids (salicylic acid), trichloroacetic acid, and phenol (carbolic acid). Jessner’s solution, a combination of resorcinol (14 g),

salicylic acid (14 g), and lactic acid (85%) in ethanol (95%).

…Peels remove all that dry, dull debris and reveal the softer, smoother skin underneath.

what about the downtime?

With today’s innovative technology, we’re happy to report that the latest peels result in little to no downtime at all! They’re also far more powerful.

  • Chemical peels define by the depth of damage in the skin that they produce. They are categorized as superficial (lunchtime peel), medium, and deep. Superficial
  • peels do not damage skin below the epidermis, the most superficial skin layer. Medium peels may reach to the superficial layer of the dermis, the deeper layer of the skin.

FAQ

Is chemical peel good for your skin?

A light chemical peel can improve skin texture and tone, as well as decrease the appearance of fine wrinkles. The results will be subtle at first, but will increase with repeated treatments. After a light chemical peel, avoid sun exposure until new skin completely covers the treated area.

Is a chemical peel painful?

During a chemical peel, most people feel a burning sensation that lasts about five to ten minutes, followed by a stinging sensation. Putting cool compresses on the skin may ease that stinging. You may need pain medication during or after a deeper peel.

How often should I get a chemical peel?

It is generally advised to get a chemical peel every four to six weeks. However, if you suffer from acne, there are some peels that you can do every two weeks until you find the expected results. Most people buy a series of four or five peels up front to achieve the treatment results wanted.
