HOW SCULPTRA WORKS?

Sculptra helps to restore the youthfulness of your skin by triggering the production of fresh collagen in the skin. Collagen is essential for the skin to repair itself as it is a key building block in the formation of new skin layers. This will fill out the areas of your face that need extra volume and can also be manipulated to contour parts of your face with excess volume. In addition, it also reduces wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles, eye bags and more as the collagen begins to take effect.

Your doctor will determine and outline a specific treatment area for you prior to treatment. A series of injections filled with Sculptra will be introduced to the lower layers of your skin, which triggers the skin to produce collagen and begins both the process of healing and filling or contouring. Areas in which the fatty tissue has been much reduced over the years will begin to fill out, giving your face a more natural shape.

The procedure is swift and only requires a few minutes of your time. Most of the time, patients will undergo two treatment sessions, but this is dependent on the condition of your skin as well as the desired outcome. Sculptra injections are mixed together with a numbing medicine known as licodaine to minimise any potential discomfort that the patient may experience.

SCULPTRA POST-TREATMENT

It usually takes 4-6 weeks before results begin to show up as it takes time for collagen levels to build up. After this, you should see gradual improvements as skin begins to thicken and your face begins to fill out.*

A second touch-up treatment is recommended in order to finish up the facial sculpting process, and results will last for up to 3 years. Sessions are usually spaced 1 month apart, and individuals above 50 years of age may opt for 3 sessions in order to obtain more favourable results.

You may experience some mild redness and bruising of the skin – redness should subside within a few hours, while bruising should fade within 1 week.
